April 2019 - This is an excellent study guide for the AP Art History test. It really guides you through everything you will need to know in order to be successful on the test. They arrange the information in chronological order and provide the essential information that you will need to know in order to be prepared. My favorite feature is that they offer online flash cards of all of the required works of art. It is great because they have set it up so you see the image first without any information and then you can click on a button and the information appears. The pictures of the artwork are in black and white in the study guide (not ideal but understandable because it wouldn't be cost effective to have color images) but the flash cards ARE in color so you can go to the cards to view them in color. The book includes the basic information about the exam, testing strategies, sample tests, and then a thick section on content review. Highly recommended. Very happy with this study guide!
- Being a guide to the AP Art History test, this is a very good overview of the subject, complete with a diagnostic test as well as two practice tests, but the photos of art objects are all black and white, really detracting from thoughtful discussion of the work.
Topics include prehistoric, ancient Mediterranean, European, Islamic, Asian, indigenous and colonial American, African and Pacific art.
There is a good glossary.
